Vollmer, Dale R.
Age 72, passed away peacefully July 31, 2012. Born October 24, 1939 in Streator, IL, he was a resident of Joliet since 1952. Retired Sergeant from the Joliet Police Department after 22 years of service. Upon retirement, he was appointed Chief Of Police of the Will County Forest Preserve District. Retired member of the Joliet Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #58. Past President of the Joliet Police Union. Former Chief of Security at the Joliet Job Corps. Life Member of the International Police Chief Association. Retired Property Management Executive. Member of Good Samaritan Ministry, Joliet.
Survived by his beloved lifetime partner, Sherry Rojo; two daughters, Tammi L. (Tom) Markham and Kim E. Vollmer-Lawson; former son-in-law Peter J. Lawson; stepchildren, Kevin (Francine Butler) Rojo, Gary (Julie) Rojo, Lori (Bill Newkirk) Rojo; grandchildren, Chloe and Hayden Markham, Daniel and Molly Lawson, Tyler Rojo, Jacob, Alex, and Mia Rojo; sisters, Mary Anne Rub Lewis, Audrey Burton, Vianne (Scott) Giacomo sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Vollmer; also uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews; aunts, Ruth Hopkins and Dottie Hopkins
Preceded in death by his wife, Joanne J. (Martewicz) Vollmer; parents, Reno and Anna Mae (Hopkins) Vollmer; brother, Lawrence D. Vollmer
As it was Dale's request, a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Matteson Lodge #175, 350 N. Midland Ave., Joliet, IL. Rev. Dr. Lester Brown officiating. Refreshments served after service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory to the Estate of Dale R. Vollmer would be appreciated. Arrangements by:
