Donald G. Weinhold
"Don"
Passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Provena Villa Franciscan Nursing Home in Joliet. He was born April 3, 1927, the son of Roy and Margaret (Goodson) Weinhold in Plainfield, IL.
Don was united in marriage to Yolanda Denault on October 3, 1953 in Goodrich, IL. They spent the next 55 years of their lives together.
Don attended St. Patrick's Grade School and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School Class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 - 1957, stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Don worked in sales for the Beech Paper Company, Robert Pilcher Paper Company and Darter. He retired in 1992 as a Vice President of the company.
Don's passion in life was his family. He was proud of his family heritage and kept in close contact with his aunt, cousins and brothers. He and his wife, Yolanda, were always there for their kids and later on, their grandchildren.
Don's hobbies were bowling, dancing, and gardening. After retirement, he enjoyed daily walks at the forest preserve and the mall during winter. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Joliet TOPS Club, where he made many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Margaret Weinhold; his brothers, Leroy "Ted" (Charlene) Weinhold, Gerald Weinhold, and Roger (Joanne) Weinhold; and sister, Marilyn.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda of Joliet; children, Mark (Mary Beth) Weinhold of Sandwich, IL, Danelle (David) Fyhrie of Wheaton, IL, Leanne (Michael) Buhr of Joliet and Suzanne Weinhold of Wilmington; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Erin Weinhold; step-grandchildren, Meagan and Sean; Alison, Heather and Emily Fyhrie; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Don Weinhold will be Monday, January 19, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to his family, which will be distributed to various charitable organizations that Don held dear to him.
