Obituary of John Weitendorf SR
John H. Weitendorf Sr.
Age 89. Peacefully, Saturday September 17, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Frankfort, IL and a lifelong Joliet area resident. A graduate of Joliet Junior College, Class of 1942 and Joliet Township High School, Class of 1940. Former owner and Broker of Town and Country Realtors serving his community for over 65 years. Past President of the Will County Association of Realtors. A member of the Board of Joliet Junior College Foundation. A 32nd Degree Mason with the Matteson Lodge #175, A. F. & A. M. Through his philantrophic endeavors, he established a scholarship fund at Joliet Junior College and supported multiple programs including the Weitendorf Agricultural Center. Instrumental in developing the Mary L. Weitendorf Family Center at the Morning Star Mission. A benefactor of the Mayo Clinic Alzheimers Unit in Jacksonville, FL. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Response Team. A former Republican Precinct Committeeman. Former member of the Joliet Elks Lodge #296. A Founding Member of St. Edward the Martyr Episcopal Church.
Preceded by one son Thomas Weitendorf (1966). His beloved wife Mary L. (nee Corsini) Weitendorf (2004); his parents; his sister and brother.
Survived by three daughters Susan Weitendorf of Sonoma, Ca., Holly (Dorey) Weitendorf of Chicago and Sally (Randy) Pickell of Lake Bluff, Il; One son John H. (Theresa) Weitendorf, Jr. of Wilmington. Three grandchildren, Eric and J.P. Pickell and John "Trey" H. Weitendorf III.
Funeral services for John H. Weitendorf, Sr. will be Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward's and Christ Episcopal Church, 206 N. Midland Ave., Joliet, IL. Rev. Katheryn L. White officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park II (Hills of Rest Cemetery.) In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Mary L.
