Chester Orran Wilhelmi
"Chet"
Age 69. Peacefully Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, with his family by his side following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Joliet, he was a lifelong area resident. A U.S. Army veteran. Retired from the U.S. Department of Energy at Argonne National Laboratories after over 35 years of service. Member of Manhattan American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn (nee Revels) Wilhelmi (1996); his father, Chester F. and his mother Dorothy (nee Eich) Conschack; and his stepfather, Glenn Conschack.
Survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sharon L. Wilhelmi of Homer Glen; two sons, Brian (Dona) Wilhelmi of Joliet and Sgt. Mark (Christine) Wilhelmi, U.S. Army, of Ft. Lewis, WA; two grandchildren, Autumn and Nathan Wilhelmi; two stepsons, William (Debbie) and Thomas (Irene) Plahm; stepdaughter, Nancy (Steve) Widlacki; four step-grandchildren, Dylan Plahm, Lindsay, Steven and Simon Widlacki; one brother, Deneen (Joann) Wilhelmi; one niece, Krystal (Eric) Soderlund both of Poway, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.
Chester O. Wilhelmi will Lie in State on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Our Mother of Good Counsel, 16043 S. Bell Rd., Homer Glen, IL from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the Manhattan American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation Friday 3-8 p.m. at:
