Harriette Anne

Obituary of Harriette Anne

Harriette Anne (Gougar) Hogue Wisneski Harriette "Anne" Wisneski, 93, of Joliet, IL; late of Clam Lake, WI; entered her eternal rest at the home of her son in Clam Lake. She was born on July 3, 1915 in the Gougar family farmhouse near New Lenox, IL, to her parents Ruby Jane Cockle and Harlow W. Gougar. Her brother R. Joseph Gougar and sister-in-law Elda Mae still reside there. In the family historical record for 1915 it was noted, "July 3rd, just on the eve of our Nation's Birthday, Harriette Anne came into port at Harlow Gougar's with lusty lungs, ready to scream with the eagle and roar with the cannon on July 4th. Dark hair and dark blue eyes, a contrast to her dear little sister, Elizabeth. Harlow and wife indeed are blest with these two lovely daughters, splendid crops and good health. What more would one need to add to the cup of happiness? verily nothing." Anne was the middle child of three. She was educated in the Union School, a one room schoolhouse where all eight grades were taught. Anne and sister Elizabeth walked the 1-1/4 miles to school. Elizabeth was a born teacher, and as a student she shared all of her lessons with Anne. As a result Anne was able to skip a grade during her elementary school education. She graduated from Joliet Township High School, attended Joliet Junior College, and earned her nursing degree from Silver Cross Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. During her nursing career she was employed as a general duty, private duty and industrial nurse. She was employed as a nurse at the Rubroid, in Joliet, and American Can, in Rockdale. Anne was always kind and helpful to her patients, family, and friends. She will be missed and never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, C. Raye Hogue, and husband William; and her sister Elizabeth Fields. Anne is survived by her son Richard and daughter-in-law Marlene (Harshfield) Hogue; grandchildren Rhica Rhianne Hogue and Richard Raye Hogue, Jr., of Clam Lake, WI; and Melissa Anne (Steve) Breen; six great-grandchildren, Faye, Tessa, John, Maria, Margaret, and Joseph Breen, of Joliet; brother Joseph Gougar and sister-in-law Elda Mae; as well as nieces and nephews: William E. Fields, Elizabeth Anne "Betsy" Schultz, Mary Jo Fields; Douglas R. Gougar, Laurel Anne "Laurie" Eisenbrandt, Kimberley Jo McGann, and Christine M. Gougar. Funeral services for Harriete "Anne" Wisneski will be held on Saturday, May 23,2009 at Grace Episcopal Church, New Lenox, IL where visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service.
