Obituary of Robert Woodard
Robert L. Woodard
Age 88. Late of Plainfield. Passed away Monday, June 9, 2008 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, with his family by his side. He was born July 8, 1919 in Joliet. Retired in 1986 after 37 years as an agent with Allstate Insurance Company. He served 38 months in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, including 18 months in Europe with the 392nd Fighter Squadron, 367 Fighter Group. He was a life member of Stone City Post #2199 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Ninth Air Force Association and the Quiet Birdmen, an aviation fraternity.
Surviving are his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Woodard; his son, William James (Mary) Woodard; and a dear friend, Barbara Witchell.
Preceded by his father, Lon Woodard (1949); his mother, Vida M. (nee Smith) Woodard (1968); and his wife, Anna Marie (nee Black) Woodard.
Funeral services for Robert L. Woodard will be Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded following services with inurnment at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Catlin, IL. Visitation Wednesday, 2-4 p.m. at:
