Robert E. Wright
Age 73. Died peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born November 6, 1935 in Joliet, he was a lifetime resident.
Survived by his wife of 53 years, Suzanne (nee Turk); children, Sally (Jim) Ford, Robert Wright (Tim Langland), William (Tami) Wright, and Lisa (Michael) McClintock; cherished grandchildren, Colton and Logan Wright, and Michael (his favorite euchre partner) and Darcy McClintock; one brother, Donald (Bernice) Wright; brothers-in-law, Don Wheeler and Bob (Myrna) Barnes; sister-in-law, Bette Wright; brothers-in-law, Frank (Sue) Turk, Don (Harriet) Turk and Joe (Lois) Turk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Catherine (nee Roettger) Wright; brother, Joseph Wright; sisters, Lois Jean Barnes and Helen Wheeler; in-laws, Frank and Margaret (nee D'Arcy) Turk.
A graduate of Joliet Catholic High School where he was a member of the 1953 undefeated football team; he was involved in all sports throughout his high school years. He attended Farragut Grade School and was the State Marbles Champion. Recipient of the Rev. Edwin "Paddy" McGowan Athletic Award from Joliet Catholic Academy. His father-in-law had taught him how to play handball which he played and enjoyed for many years. An avid local sports and Notre Dame fan; he was a member of the ComEd Retiree Golf League, and was proud to have had two holes-in-one. Member of the Joliet Elks Lodge #296, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300 and the Old Timers Baseball Association. A supervisor with Northern Illinois Gas Company, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending a portion of every summer at his home in Michigan. A devoted family man, he was most proud of his four children, and loved coaching his sons in their younger years at St. Joe's Park.

Funeral Services for Robert E. Wright will be Monday, March 2, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the American Diabetes Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Joliet Catholic Academy, or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
