Obituary of Maxine Doyle

Doyle, Maxine C. (nee Cohen) Age 84. Passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, with her family by her side. Born September 17, 1928 in Toluca, IL, the daughter of Max D. and Rose A. (Turiglietti) Cohen, she lived most of her life in Joliet. A graduate of Joliet Township High School, Class of 1946, and Joliet Junior College, Class of 1948. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and English from Indiana University in 1952. Employed by the Spectator Newspaper in Joliet as Society Editor. Also employed by the Joliet Arsenal (U.S. Rubber Company) in the public relations department as a staff member on the in-house news periodical, "Powder Lines" which she helped create. In later years, she was a contributor to the Reader's Digest. She married James J. Doyle of South Bend, IN on September 7, 1953; this year was their 59th wedding anniversary. Preceded in death by her parents, Max D. (1967) and Rose A. Cohen (1981); her brother-in-law, Thomas Doyle. She is survived by her husband and her daughter, Christie L. Doyle, both of Joliet; her cousin and beloved friend, Pauline Loitz of Danville, CA; one sister-in-law, Jacqueline M. Bark of Granger, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Maxine loved to read, write and travel, but her real passion was dancing, and she was a good one. She always looked forward to the charity balls with her friends and weekend big band sounds. As the song goes, Maxine "could have danced all night". Entombment will be private at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Hillside. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet, IL on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church would be appreciated.
