Obituary of Mary Matesi

Matesi, Mary P. (nee Pistilli) Age 97. Passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Naperville. Born August 6, 1915 in Joliet, IL to the late Federico and Eva (nee D'Orazio) Pistilli, she was raised in Rockdale and resided in the Joliet area most of her life. She attended Joliet Township High School, Joliet Junior College and DePaul University, where she received both a Bachelor and Masters Degree. An educator for nearly 40 years, Mary taught many area children in Joliet and the surrounding communities. Beloved wife of 67 years to the late Frank Matesi (2004); loving mother of Eva Jean (Michael) Conway of Romeoville, Dr. Annette (Richard) Moore of Downers Grove and Dr. Margo (Dr. Leslie) Wolf of Naperville; dearest grandmother of the late Frank Conway, Michael (Michelle "Kelly") Conway, Jr.; Dr. Richard Moore, Jr., Jonathan Moore; Dr. Leslie (Jill) Wolf and Nina Wolf; proud great-grandmother of Christopher "C.J.", Eric, Amanda and Nicole; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by her husband, grandson, parents, and three brothers, Renaldo, the Honorable Angelo and Louis Pistilli. Mary enjoyed gardening, but her passions were teaching and family. Funeral Services for Mary P. Matesi will be Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Anthony for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.
