Obituary of Emmett Severson

Severson, Emmett J. Age 97. Passed away peacefully Sunday, December 16, 2012. Born in Verona, IL., Emmett was the fourth of eight children born to Norwegian immigrants, John and Maren (Habberstad) Severson. Emmett farmed from his youth in Grundy County, and later in Jackson Township until retirement in 1992, at the age of 77. A former member of the Knights of Columbus, Emmett ushered at St. Paul the Apostle church for 35 years. He was a member and past officer of Will County Farm Bureau and had met with the Secretary of Agriculture in the late '60's in Washington D.C., representing area farming issues. He was also of member of the Illinois Corn Growers Association, the Elwood Sportsmans Club and the Paulites. Preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Irene (nee McCabe). He is survived by his daughter, Susan Roncone of Vista, CA; and son, John Severson of Elwood, IL; grandsons, Dr. Christopher of Roncone, Temecula, CA., Erik Roncone of Conneaut, OH., Jonathan Roncone of Vista, CA., Alexander Roncone of Vista, CA; grandaughter, Bridgette Guyer of Crofton, MD.; grandson, Neil Severson of Elwood, IL; and two stepgrandsons, Josh Martinez of Chicago and Nickolas Martinez of NYC also survive. Funeral Services for Emmett J. Severson will be Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
