Ryan, Catherine J.
(nee Neylon)
Age 95, of Joliet, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 with her devoted daughters and grandchildren at her side.
Born April 22, 1917 in County Clare, Ireland, she came to the United States with her sister, Mary Neylon Clark, when she was 10 years old, and was raised by her two great aunts. She loved her Irish heritage and visited Ireland many times. Family was very important to Catherine. She was a loving mother and grandmother and would do anything to help those who needed assistance. She enjoyed children, babies and dogs.
Catherine has touched many lives and her memory will last in our hearts forever.
Survived by her daughters, Patricia (late Wilbur) Sager of Tinley Park, IL and Joan (James G.) Hickey of Joliet; daughter-in-law, Maureen Ryan of Elgin; 19 grandchildren, Laura (Danny Rayborn) Beedon, Denise (John) Betken, Debora (Phillip) Rucker, Michael (Laurie) Hausfeld, Sharon (Rick) Serrano, James Sager, William Sager, Vanessa Sager, Matthew Sager, Ellen (Michael) Lekas, Thomas (Andrea) Sager, Lori (Timothy) Kelly, Terrence Hickey, Patrice (Michael) James, Monica (Robert) Bendon, Sheila Hickey, John Ryan, Daniel (Beth Ann) Ryan, and Kerry (Matthew) Wicklund; 34 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth (Thomas) Gallagher of Boston, MA; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded by her beloved husband, John W. Ryan (1958); two sons, William D. Ryan and Barry Ryan in infancy; her parents, Patrick and Catherine (McInery) Neylon; and 12 brothers and sisters.
All friends and relatives are invited to gather Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 N. Woodlawn Ave., Joliet, from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
