Obituary of Mary Flores
Flores, Mary
(nee Guzman)
Age 46, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family, after an almost 11 year battle with breast cancer.
She attended Joliet East High School, but was a graduate of Joliet Central Class of 1984. She was employed for more than 27 years as an administrative assistant for Commonwealth Edison/Exelon and worked at several nuclear stations and the Joliet Training Center.
Mary was devoted to her family, friends and work. She was actively involved in her children's school and sports and was the world's best soccer mom. She also enjoyed traveling, loved music and was an avid dancer.
She was the recipient of the generosity and support of her coworkers who remembered her throughout her entire illness. She loved her job so much and was devastated when she could not return to work.
Survived by her three children, Emmanuel, Marisol, and Nicholas, all of Joliet; her former husband, Victor Manuel Flores; her mother, Alicia (nee Granados) Guzman of Joliet; two sisters, Laura Guzman and Elizabeth Guzman; and two brothers, Michael Guzman and Mark Guzman, all of Joliet.
Preceded in death by her father, Miguel S. "The Boss" Guzman (2005).
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Joliet Area Community Hospice and Dr. Ellen Gaynor of Loyola Medical Center for their compassionate care.
