Waldvogel, Benedict J.
Age 75. Passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center.
He was born March 31, 1937 in Joliet to the late Mary (nee Dolak) and Benedict L. Waldvogel. Ben attended S.s. Cyril and Methodius Grade School and Joliet Township High School, class of 1955.
Survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann (nee Wicevic) Waldvogel; four sons, Benedict Jr. (Nancy, deceased), Anthony (Muareen, deceased), Timothy (Annette) and Cal (Tara) Waldvogel; eleven grandchildren; eight grandchildren; one brother, George (Charlene) Waldvogel. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bernice (Fred) Yoesle and Mary Evelyn (Leslie) Rice.
Ben, a longtime Joliet Businessman, was the owner/operator of Security Muffler and Auto Parts. He was a past Chairman of the Joliet Zoning Board of Appeals (1976-1992) and past President of Goltz Park Boys Baseball. A member of the Moran A.C., Ingalls Park A.C., W.C.C.C., the Coyote Moon Dancers and former member of the Kingsway Kickers. His passions and hobbies included tending to his yard and stock car driving from the 1950's through the 1970's.
Funeral Services for Benedict J. Waldvogel will be Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice, St. Mary Nativity grade school fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Visitation Sunday 2-8 p.m. at:
