Age 87. Passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia.
Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident. Owner of The Flower Shop for 25 years after she retired as Vice President from LaSalle National Bank in Chicago. Received her Masters Degree in business from Roosevelt University of Illinois and her Bachelors degree at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Graduated from Joliet Central High School. She was a very caring and enthusiastic person. Lifetime member at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, served on the church board, aSunday school teacher and played the organ at church for 25 years. Member of the Philoptochos Society and Rotary, Charter Member of The Daughters of Penelope and Cretan Ladies Association, Amalthea. Member of Pan-Cretan Society of Chicago and Association of Chicago Banking Women. She was also on the Board of Directors for YMCA in Joliet and Joliet Area Community Hospice where she also served as a volunteer. She was taken care by her friends and koumbari, Nina Bulboaca-Paros, Peter Paros and Nina's daughter, Alexandrina Amditis.
Preceded in death of her loving sister, Sylvia G. Vedalakis (1995); her mother, Irene (Latenake) (1984); and her father, George P. Vedalakis (1990).
Funeral Services for Aratula G. Vedalakis will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for Concelebrated Services at 9:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park II. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. with Trisagion Services at 6:00 p.m. at:
