Obituary of Laura Curl

Curl, L. Shirley Age 100. Passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at home. Born November 27, 1912 in Joliet and a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Joliet Junior College and Northwestern University. A teacher for the Joliet Public School District 86 for many years, retiring in 1973. Member of the Kings Daughters and the Retired Teachers Association. Member of Trinity Methodist Church. Surviving are her niece, Candace (Patrick) Arthur of Bloomington, IL; one nephew, Jim (Donna) Arthur of Hamilton, IL; great-niece, Molly (Bradley) Arthur Griggs of Indianapolis, IN; and great-nephew, Jesse (Kate) Evans of Nauvoo, IL. Preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Dora (nee Reed) Curl; one sister, Betty (nee Curl) Arthur and a brother and sister, both in infancy. The family would like to express their gratitude to Shirley's neighbors and friends for their love and care over the past few years. We would also like to thank Integrity Senior Care and especially her primary caregivers, Toni and Mary. Funeral services for L. Shirley Curl will be Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rev. Kay Collins will officiate. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
