Obituary of Martin Lepacek
Lepacek Sr., Martin J.
Age 93. Passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born October 27, 1919 in Joliet and was a lifelong area resident. Retired in 1980 from the U.S. Postal Service and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was devoted to his famiy and will be sadly missed. Martin enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing his harmonica, and playing cards with his family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Margaret (Pavelek) Lepacek (2002); his daughter, Joanne C. Lepacek (2011); his parents, Ignatius and Helena Lepacek; brothers Stephen (late Gnevieve), Joseph (late Julia), John and Frank Lepacek, sister Emily (late Joseph) Lukowski.
Survived by his son, Martin J. Lepacek Jr. (Kathleen R.); his daughter, Patricia Lepacek; his grandsons, Kevin (Vicky) of Joliet and Keith Lepacek of Chicago, his great-grandson, Jonathan Richard Lepacek of Joliet; brother-in-law of Kentworth and Julie Gould of Downers Grove and Mary Lepacek of Joliet; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The Lepacek family would like to thank the staff at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home for their outstanding care and compassion during Martin's stay.
Funeral Services for Martin J. Lepacek Sr. will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Ss. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery. Memorials in his memory to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Mary Nativity Educational Endowment Fund would be appreciated. Visitation Friday 4-8 p.m at:
