Age 93, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully Thursday, January 17, 2013. Born in Kiltora, Kalabryta Greece on December 28, 1919 to the late Andrea and Maria Papaspiliopoulou(s).
She is survived by her loving and devoted son, George Nonas; her loving and devoted daughter, Angel (Edward) Gronksowski and her adoring and devoted daughter, Maria (and the late Gust) Georgantas. She is the beloved grandmother of Edward, Pamela, and Jamie Gronksowski; and the favorite and most cherished grandmother of Amanda and James Georgantas. Panagiota is also survived by her sister-in-law, Katerina and several nieces and nephews in Greece.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Demetrios Nonas; loving son-in-law, Gust Georgantas; her parents; and her numerous brothers and sisters.
Panagiota was a devout member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Joliet. Her faith in God and her love of family carried her through life.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL 60431 from 2-8 p.m. with a trisagion service at 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 21, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church 102 N. Broadway Joliet, IL 60435 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
