Obituary of Peter Perez

Peter R. Perez "Ricky" Born October 23, 1952 in Chicago, IL to the late Maria Simms and Peter "Pepe" Perez, he entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the age of 60. He was devoted to his family and faith as a devout Christian and member of the First Assembly of God. Pete will be sadly missed. Pete was a Senior Manager at IBM prior to his first major stroke in 1994. After a year of intensive rehab for which he received the "Rehab Hero of the Year Award", Pete found his faith and devoted the next 20 years of his life to his family and church. During his recovery Pete stated, "I thank God many times daily and know that he will continue to heal me. The greatest miracle has already happened. I have gained eternal life through accepting Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Everything I now do is for Christ". He was preceded in death by his deeply missed and beloved mother, Maria (nee Suarez) (Bilo) Simms, and sister Deborah (Rick) Ramos. Pete is survived by his wife, Nancy; five sons, Pete (Rosario), Paul (Amy), Gabriel (Jacqueline), Gregory (Stacy) and Christopher; one daughter, Jeanetta; his father, Pete (Alice); sister, Lisa (Bill) Perez; 14 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and several other family members. The Perez family would like to thank the staff at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home for their outstanding care and compassion during Pete's stay. Funeral Services for Pete R. "Ricky" Perez will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rev. Bob Hahn will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial.
