Age 91. Passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Born June 22, 1921 in Joliet, to the late Leo and Ida (nee Wilhelmi) Budde, she was a lifelong Elwood/Jackson Township resident, serving as the Jackson Township Clerk for many years. An avid gardener, she was a member of Joliet Catholic High School Mother's Club and was an active volunteer for Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and St. John's Parish. The Joliet Rotary Club presented her the Silver Eagle Award in recognition of her many years of volunteer service.
Surviving are her children, Sandra Smith, Annette (Paul) Buss, James (Joyce Heinlen) Mackey, Michael (Sandy Jacobsen) Mackey, George (Paula Lorey) Mackey, Mark (Kristine Kiefer) Mackey, Paul (Patti Walker) Mackey, Christopher (Carol Keigher) Mackey, and Kurt (Kate Gallagher) Mackey; 34 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by her first husband, George Mackey (1971); her second husband, Earl Norman (1998); an infant daughter, Diane Mackey; daughter, Janice Russ; son, Thomas Mackey; grandchildren, Deanna and John Russ; brothers, Robert, Leonard, Jack and Richard Budde; and sisters, Eva Chignoli, Betty Kinney, and Pat Skoien.
Funeral Services for Sylvia Mackey will be Monday, January 28, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday, 2-8 p.m. at:
