Obituary of Joseph Ramirez

Joseph P. Ramirez Age 77. At rest on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice home surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Joliet, member of Southside Civic Club, former owner of Joseph's Barber/Hair Stylist for 42 years and employed with Family Hair Center, Joliet, IL., where he enjoyed cutting hair and talking with his customers. Graduated from Joliet Central High School Class of 1955 and Moler Barber College in Chicago, 1960. Veteran of U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. WASP, U.S.S. Champlain, U.S.S. Leyte and U.S.S. Tarawa. Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed home improvement projects and gardening. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Elvira "Vera" (nee Castillo) of 52 years; his two daughters, Julie (Stephen) Korst and Joellen (Terrence) Broderick; grandfather of Rhianna and Natalie Korst and Maggie and Daniel Broderick; one brother, Raymond Ramirez; four sisters, Marie (the late Felix) Moreno, Angie (Mike) Garcia, Lupe (Mark) Lesa and Mary Ramirez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Librada (nee Rodriguez); brothers, Paul, Richard, Roman, Jesse, Howard and John Sr. (Adeline) Ramirez. Funeral services for Joseph P. Ramirez will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL 60431 to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
