Age 99, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement home, where he had resided the past three years.
Bill was born March 22, 1912 to the late Ann and James Brennan in Marysville, Kansas, where he was raised , educated and married Roseann M. Schulze in 1934. The entire Brennan family moved to Chicago in 1935 and a few years later, Bill and Roseann moved to Joliet spending the rest of their married lives there.
In addition to his wife of 71 years, he is also preceded in death by his parents; three children, daughter Marilyn Nemanich, as well as daughter Shirley and son Billy, both at a very young age. Also a brother James, and four sisters, Margaret Ann (late Phil) O'Donnell, Cecelia (Gordon) Maypole, Nellie ( late Ambrose)Finn and Kathleen ( late John) Hennigan.
He is survived by his son-in-law, Norm Nemanich; two grandchildren, Norm (Mary) Nemanich and Susan (Rick) Kamrowski. Four great grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas, Nathan and Nolan Nemanich; two brothers, John (Kris) and Alfred (Mary Fran) Brennan; two sisters, Marion (late Richard) Ellsworth and Delores (late Ernie) Reschke as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill retired form APSA after many years of service at the Joliet Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. Arsenal and retiring from the Rock Island Arsenal in the late 1970's. He was a past member of the Joliet Elks Lodge and LOTM Joliet Lodge #300, where he enjoyed playing cards with his buddies. His eternal passion was his faith in God; he served in the Legion of Mary at the Church of St. Anthony for many years. His earthly passions and strengths were golf-he won several tournaments and often golfed his age, and his expertise in the games of poker; weaknesses-trying to pick a pony, and whether he should give or take the points in a football game. Bill was always interested in his grandchildren and great grandchildren's endeavors. He was an avid fan of the White Sox, Bears, Notre Dame and Joliet Catholic. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family, friend and his sense of humor.
Funeral Services for Bill Brennan will be Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Crest Hill, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. John Cemetery. in lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Ambrose Church would be appreciated.
