As I heard the news of cousin Marian's passing from Teresa, I was saddened at our loss of course, however when I thought of her I couldn't help but smile knowing how happy she is now to be with her Lord and Saviour in the company of her family and friends who preceded her. Sr. Marian and I shared the same interest, namely our love of family history and research, as well as the stories and family lore passed down from each generation.
While I only met her mother in her later days, I felt as if I knew the whole family because she always enjoyed and valued her family so much which became evident when one heard her talk about her brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces and the latest family news. She was always looking out and praying for each one of us. What a true blessing she was.
I know too that my Uncle, Fr. Bob Behnen, OFM appreciated her visits in his last years in Sherman, IL. Together, Sr. Marian and I had lots of fun uncovering the Schilling and Behnen family history and learning about our ancestors. I will tell my sons some day of their father's cousin, Sr. Marian, who was always generous with her time and prayers and love for family and friends. But for today, we will remember her and her immediate family in our prayers knowing that she is at home with Jesus Christ our Lord free from any physical pain or ailments.
