Gertrude A. Kucinic
(nee Gregorich)
Age 85. Passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet, she was a lifelong resident. Graduate of Providence Catholic High School. Former co-owner and operator of Kuchie's One More Time, package liquor and lounge that she ran with her husband, Edward "Kuchie", for many years. She was proud of her children and took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed flower gardening when she was younger, watching and feeding the birds in her neighborhood. Avid Wheel of Fortune fan and enjoyed baking her banana cake and potica.
Survived by her son, Edward Kucinic; four daughters, Kathryn (John) Elder of Joliet, Jean (late Richard) Crescenti of Joliet, Rita (William) Hickey of Fredericksburg, VA, Claire Kucinic of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Janile (Lee) Day, Eric (Jennifer) Heintz, Megan, Andrew, Connor, Rachel and Laura Hickey; great-grandchildren, Carter, Reid and Kara Day, Eli and Chloe Heintz and Annabelle Galloway; sisters, Ann (late Joseph) Jelinek, Isabel (late Leo) Hauser; sister-in-law and friend, MaryAnn Gregorich; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Kucinic (1997); parents, Jenny and John Gregorich; brothers, Dr. Carl Gregorich and Father Edmund Gregory; sisters, Leontine (Frank) Gibbs, Sister Jane Marie Gregorich, Joann (Albert) DiDomenic, and MaeRose (Matthew) Lewicki; brother-in-law, Matt (Mary) Kucinic; Michael (Eleanor) Kucinic; and sister-in-law, Mary (Henry) Chinderle; son-in-law, Richard Crescenti; and nephew, Tom Kucinic.
Funeral services for Gertrude A. Kucinic will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Nativity Catholic Cemetery.
