William A. Abel
Passed away peacefully at age 85 Monday, February 11, 2013 at his Joliet residence. Born to the late Aaron and Alvira (nee Marsch) Abel on January 15, 1928 in New London, Wi. Devoted husband of the late Delores Ruth (Shuey) Abel and Germaine (Curran) Abel. A U.S. Navy Veteran. Graduate of Purdue University and a chemical research engineer for Joliet Army Ammunition Plant, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Waste Management. Member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Joliet and fellow in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Dedicated father of Linda L. Abel and Diana L. Abel both of Kankakee, IL and Shari D. (Verlin) Johnson of Joliet; sister, Joan Guenther of Willard, WI; niece, Susan (Arpod) Eiler of Waupaca, WI; dear grandfather of David (Tamara) and Richard Abel, Brandi (Eric) Blount, Amanda (Dustin) Holthusen, Michelle (William) Mietkiewcz, and Jessica, Marcia and V. Leon Johnson; 22 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Monica Abel of California.
Preceded by his beloved son, Michael L. Abel; parents; step-father, Rudolph Hiddie; one brother, David John (Jackie) Abel; and great-granddaughter, Arianna Johnson.
Funeral Services for William A. Abel will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church 353 N. Midland Ave. Joliet, Il. 60435. Rev. Jane Perkolup will officiate. Family and friends may gather at the church Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A reception will be held at the church following the service. As it was William's final request, cremation rights have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations to the William A. and Delores R.
