Edward J. "Ed" Bedford, Jr. of Joliet, Illinois passed away on March 7, 2013. He was 89 years old. Ed was born April 14, 1923 in Joliet, Illinois.
He is preceded by his parents, Edward and Myrtle (Blood) Bedford; brothers, Russell and Westley Bedford; sister, Onieta Griggs; wife, Galey (Malinoff) Bedford.
He is survived by three children, Cheryl (Glenn) Rotkovich, Brian (Judy) Bedford and Brent Bedford; grandchildren, Aaron (Vickie) Rotkovich, Marci (Jason) Maxwell, Dana (Keri) Rotkovich, Victor Bedford, Veronica Bedford, and Angela Bedford; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jordan, Bryson, Jaelyn and Brayden.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and worked as a lineman for Illinois Bell for over 25 years until his retirement. He was married to Galey (Malinoff) Bedford for over 65 years until she passed away in 2011. Ed was a lifetime member of the Masons Fraternity. He was also part of the Indian Guide group with his two sons during their youth. Prior to his recent move to Aurora, Colorado, he spent most of his life in Joliet. He enjoyed traveling and visited every capital of the continental United States in his RV with his wife. After his retirement, he enjoyed living in Florida during the winter. When he wasn't traveling, he enjoyed tinkering in his wood shop and playing pool. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Funeral Services for Edward J. Bedford, Jr. will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Thursday 6-8 p.m. For more information (815)741-5500 or www.fredcdames.com
