Obituary of Lillian Kummer

Lillian D. Kummer (nee Pozzi) Age 79. Formerly of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Presence Mercy Hospital. Born in Aurora to Joseph and Alvira (nee Chioni) Pozzi on July 29, 1933. A longtime area Aurora resident and graduate of St. Peter's Grade School and West Aurora High School. Lillian was married to Bill Kummer on May 9, 1959. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on May 9, 2006. Bill passed on May 10, 2006. Lillian was a past president and active member of the Ladies of Columbus for 48 years. She and her crew were famous for their "spaghetti dinner at K.O.C." with Doris, Gloria, Millie, MaryAnn, Ruth and many others. Also an active member of the Joliet Homemakers. She loved her bingo and was the garage sale queen. Lillian enjoyed life and loved her traveling to many countries. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Always had a big smile, a heart filled with love to everyone and will be missed by all. Survived by one son, Joseph W. Kummer, Sr. of Lockport; three grandchildren, Joseph Kummer, Jr., Brett Kazlauskas and Amanda Dennis; one great-granddaughter, Kylie Lynn; one sister, Mary Ellen (Tom) Booth; one brother, Albert (Charleen) Pozzi and one sister-in-law, Shirley Pozzi also survives. Preceded in death by her husband, William C. (2006); parents, Joseph and Alvira (nee Chioni) Pozzi; stepmother, Hannah Mae (nee Strombo) Pozzi; three brothers, Joe Jr., Raymond and Leo Pozzi; and one sister, Katrina Pozzi. Funeral Services for Lillian D. Kummer will be Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Peter's School, 915 Sard Avenue, Aurora, IL 60506 would be appreciated. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Elmwood Nursing Home for the excellent care and respect shown to Lillian for the past seven years.
