Obituary of Grace Watjus

Grace M. Watjus (nee Overly) Age 100. Passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Meadowbrook Manor, Bolingbrook. She was born September 19, 1912 in Joliet to the late Maude (nee Vance) and Allison Overly. Survived by her daughter, Mary Lou (Steven) Brashler of Lockport; granddaughters, Lori (Richard) Davis of Kentucky, and Sherri (Danny) Nowman of Lockport; great-grandchildren, Jillian (Todd) Siessman, Jennifer, Danny Jr., Savannah; and Lyndsey; great-great-grandson, Alexander Siessman. Preceded in death by her husband, Jorma Oliver Watjus (1943, in action, WWII); her parents, and siblings. Grace, a lifetime Joliet resident, was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Grace Bible Church. She retired from Sears Department Store in 1978. Her very special hobby was watching the Chicago Cubs. She and some of her women friends would gather in front of the T.V. for their Cub watching event. She never gave up on them and cheered them on every game. Funeral Services for Grace M. Watjus will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Thursday morning, 9:00 a.m. until the services begin.
