Louis J. Frederick
"Jim"
Age 88, of Elwood and formerly of Joliet for over 50 years, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. He was born October 12, 1924 in Channahon, where he was raised, to the late Carrie and William Frederick. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 32 years of service where he was known as "Cricket". He also worked with his late son, William, at Joliet Awning for over 30 years.
Beloved husband of 69 years to Bessie (nee Hamilton); loving father of the late William (Darlene) Frederick and Nancy Steinberg; dear grandfather of Jaime (Bill) Steinberg Null, and the late Chad Steinberg; great-grandfather of Alex and Eric Null; also survived by three stepgrandchildren, David, Greg and John Lindstrom and their families; dear brother of the late Charles (late Margaret) Frederick; fond uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Jim was a member of the American Legion Harwood Post #5 and St. Peter Lutheran Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed golf, creating jewelry and stained glass; and in his later years enjoyed reading, watching westerns and hiking in the Southwest.
Funeral Services for Louis J. Frederick will be Friday, March 29, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet with Rev. Karl Hess officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials in his name to St. Peter Lutheran Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
