Obituary of Sister OSF

Sister Patricia Britt, OSF Sister Patricia (formerly, Sister M. Andre) Britt, OSF (1930-2009) died peacefully at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet, Illinois on June 28, 2009. Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of the deceased Charles and Leonore (Reeb) Britt. She was the sister of Charles (Judi) Britt of Lancaster, OH; James Britt, Dolores Britt and Jeanine (Peter) Burns all of Columbus, OH. She was a treasured member of the Joliet Franciscans for over 57 years. Sister Patricia attended St. Mary Grade and High School in Columbus. After professing her vows as a religious, she ministered as a grade school teacher for four years and as a high school teacher for three years at schools in Ohio and Illinois. In 1966 after graduating from Little Company of Mary Nursing School, she ministered as a Registered Nurse at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet, Illinois for three years. From 1969 to 1973 she ministered at the Texas Medical Center in Houston and at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Hospital. In 1973 she began a 23 year ministry on the nursing staff at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, IL. She retired to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in 2001 after serving her community at the Motherhouse in Joliet. The wake will be held at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 2:00-6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The burial will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Angels to Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.
