Obituary of Gilbert Salazar
Gilbert Salazar, Jr.
Age 60, of Pharr, TX and formerly of Joliet, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Zion, IL.
Gilbert retired from Com Ed and Midwest Generation following 33 years of service.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to his large and and extended family. He will be remembered for his meticulous care of his yard, his home and his cars, and his love of Tejano music, the Beatles and the Dallas Cowboys.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, Dora (nee Torres) Salazar; his children, Gilbert Salazar III and Jennifer Salazar, and his godchild, Diane Uguccioni, all of Joliet; six grandchildren, Bianca Salazar, Jazmine Figueroa-Salazar, Anthony Salazar, Matthew Kranz, Selena Kranz and Kortez Woodson; his brothers and sisters, Rosie (Jaime) Guajardo, Joe (Rita) Salazar, Sr., David Salazar, Sr., Richard Salazar, Mary Ann Dickey and Daniel Salazar; a sister-in-law, Linda Salazar; his mother-in-law, Merced Torres; his wife's brothers and sisters, Mary (Louis) Ledesma, Ana (Guadalupe) Barbosa and Sylvia Valerio. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded by his parents, Gilbert (2010) and Concepcion "Connie" (nee Estrada) Salazar (1992); two brothers, Ernest and Pete Salazar; his father-in-law, Rafael Torres, Sr., a brother-in-law, Rafael Torres, Jr., a nephew and niece, Vincent and Connie Marie Salazar; and a grand-nephew, Emiliano Salazar.

Funeral services for Gilbert Salazar, Jr. will be Saturday, April 27, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Bernard Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
