Obituary of Mark Brockett

Mark A. Brockett Age 25. Suddenly Sunday, August 23, 2009 from being involved in a pedestrian accident following being struck by a motor vehicle. Born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet/Elwood area resident. A graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield, Class of 2006, Joliet Central High School (2002) and Elwood Grade School. Employed by the Lemont High School District #210 as an Assistant Intervention Advocate. He also worked as the Varsity Boys Volleyball Coach. Mark was a summer counselor at the Joliet Park District for the past two summers. Mark had a passion for his football radio work with WJOL and his greatest loves in life were his friends and his family. Preceded by his father, Wendell D. Brockett (1996). Survived by his loving mother, Kathleen (nee Rowan) Brockett of Elwood; three brothers, James A. (Susana) Surkein of Valparaiso, IN, Hank R. Brockett and Neal R. Brockett, both of Elwood; one niece, Cynthia Surkein; one nephew, Dylan Surkein; his grandfather, Wendell G. Brockett; three aunts; and one uncle. Numerous cousins also survive. A celebration of Mark Brockett's life will be Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Brown Cemetery in Elwood. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lemont High School Boys Volleyball Program, in his memory, would be appreciated.
