Obituary of Kathleen McCanna

Kathleen M. McCanna (nee O'Leary) Age 71. At rest Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. Born in Joliet to the late Donald and Elizabeth (nee Bapst) O'Leary, she was a lifelong resident. Graduate of St. Francis Academy, she received her Associates Degree in Radiology. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital in 2001, where she was a mammography specialist in the x-ray department. Kathleen was her grandchildren's biggest fan, attending all their sporting events near and far. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing the slots with her friends, and spending her summers on the Chippewa Flowage at Tiger Musky Resort. Surviving are her loving husband of 50 years, William McCanna of Joliet; three children, Patrick (Carey) McCanna of The Woodlands, TX, Dan (Donna-Maria) McCanna of West Palm Beach, FL and Colleen Skala (Matt) Mallers of Oak Park, IL; 11 grandchildren; four sisters; one brother; as well as numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and dear, loving family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Bill Fitzgerald; and one brother, Daniel O'Leary. Funeral Services for Kathleen M. McCanna will be Friday, May 3, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
