Obituary of Debra Brockman

Brockman, Debra (nee O'Connor) Age 60, of Shorewood, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Rush University Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born January 6, 1952 in Joliet, she was a graduate of Joliet East High School and Joliet Junior college. She worked many years as a floral designer and was also a wonderful homemaker. For 19 years, she served as a volunteer for the Village of Shorewood, and was active in other community activities and organizations. Debbie had an artistic flair and enjoyed decorating, but it is her baking and gardening for which she will be long remembered. Despite all her health problems, she remained devoted to her faith and her church, and will always be a loving inspiration to her family and friends. Her thoughtfulness and generosity will never be forgotten. Surviving are her beloved husband of 37 years, Stevan A. "Steve" Brockman of Shorewood; one daughter, Kimberly (Adam) Slick of Shorewood; her mother, Ellen June (nee Morgan) O'Connor of Elwood; three brothers, Thomas (Patti) O'Connor of New Lenox, and Dennis and Terry O'Connor, both of Elwood; niece, Lisa Hicks; nephews, Thomas J. O'Connor II and Paul and Mike Hicks; a brother-in-law, George Hicks of Joliet; and her husband's siblings, Rodney (Dale Ann) Brockman of Elwood, Richard (Barbara) Brockman of Wilmington, and Pam (Randy) Smith of Joliet; and the Brockman nieces and nephews. Morgan (2010); and other uncles and aunts. The family wishes to thank Sun Health for their outstanding care and support for the past 10 years, and to the staff at Rush University Medical Center for their care in her final illness.
