Obituary of Marilyn Nemanich

Marilyn J. Nemanich (nee Birkey), Age 82 of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer and went home to be with God on Thursday, May 23, 2013. Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident and graduated from Joliet Township High School (1948). Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, John (Bud) Nemanich; her children Cheryl (Thomas) St. Germain of Channahon, Judy (Robert) Kauzlaric of Minooka and John Nemanich of Palatine. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael (Suzanne) St. Germain, Kimberly Casto, Christopher, Kevin and Laurie Kauzlaric, her great-grandchildren Ella, Nathan and Emily St. Germain. Marilyn leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, especially Daniel Earl. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard (1948) and Ella (2000); her brother in-laws/sister in-laws, Dale and Marian Martincich; Joe and Dorothy Viscum. Marilyn worked many years at Standard Oil, Spiegel Catalog, 1st National Bank of Joliet and retired from Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond, CCW, Cathedral Seniors, KSKJ, Will County Seniors, Cantigny Post 367 Ladies Auxiliary and Croatian Cultural Club. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staffs of Dr. William Stapleton, Dr. Eileen Gustafson / JOHA and the Joliet Area Community Hospice for their kind and loving care. Funeral services for Marilyn J. Nemanich will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Ave., where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
