Obituary of John Simpson

John R. Simpson Age 39. Suddenly Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center following a courageous battle with Leukemia with his family and friends by his side. Born August, 1, 1973 in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet area resident. Employed by Double J Sports Bar as the bar manager. Past Vice President of the Wish Upon A Star Foundation. John was a huge Notre Dame, Blackhawks and White Sox fan, and was an amazing man who loved life. He will be remembered for his big heart and love of people. Preceded by his maternal grandparents, John and Mary (nee Long) Will and paternal grandfather, Robert Simpson; and aunt Judy Robbins. Survived by his loving wife, Courtney (nee West) Simpson; his daughter, Kerrigan Simpson; his parents, William and Margaret Simpson, all of Joliet; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Simpson of Lockport; two brothers, Patrick (Amy) of Shorewood and Christopher (Kim) Simpson of Joliet; one sister, Meghan (Joe) Vertin of Joliet; his father-in-law, Mike (Pam) West and mother-in-law, Kim West; brother-in-law, Shawn West, all of Joliet; his adoring nieces and nephews, Emily, Preston, Paige, Claire and Will; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends also survive. Funeral Services for John R. Simpson will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. As it was John's request, Cremation Rites will be accorded following his funeral services. Memorials to the John Simpson Benefit Fund in c/o New Century Credit Union, 291 Springfield Avenue, Joliet, IL 60435, specifically for the benefit for his daughter, Kerrigan, would be appreciated.
