Obituary of Nello D'Ottavio

Nello A. D'Ottavio, Jr. Age 73. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Joliet and resident of Shorewood for 43 years. Preceded in death by his parents, Nello Sr. and Domenica "Mamie" D'Ottavio; his brother, Olindo "Lindy" D'Ottavio. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Jane (nee Gimpel) D'Ottavio of Shorewood; his children, Lynn (Jay) Juricich of Joliet and Andrew (Amber) D'Ottavio of Woods Cross, UT; his grandchildren, Kyle, Connor and Cameron Juricich, Porter and Jordan Smith and new grandson D'Ottavio expected in July. He was a member of Carpenter's Local #174 for 51 years. He had a great talent for woodworking and could fix almost anything. He had a great love for the outdoors including hunting, fishing, boating and gardening, and he enjoyed his winter home in Port Charlotte, FL for many years. His true passion was his family and friends. His grandsons will miss him on the sidelines of their sporting events he never missed, fishing beside him at the "Club" or shooting the bow and arrow. Although his diabetes took away some of his physical abilities, he never lost his ability to see the good in life and always tried to live his life to the fullest. Funeral Services for Nello A. D'Ottavio, Jr. will be Monday, June 10, 2013 at 10:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
