Lawrence F. Werner
Age 74. Born in Joliet to the late Walter and Mary Agnes (nee Creed) Werner. He was a lifelong resident, graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1956 and a U.S. Navy veteran. Formerly employed by Honiotes Brothers Food Market. Retired from ComEd in 1994 following 25 years of service. Member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. An avid golfer who achieved two "Holes-in-One" within weeks of each other. He was an accomplished handyman.
Survived are his loving wife of 16 years, Sandra Irvin (Mancini) Werner of Joliet; two children, Denise Werner of Chicago, and Mark Werner of Portland, OR; two stepchildren, Cynthia (John) Vessel of Channahon and Michael Irvin of Treasure Island, FL; two grandchildren, Tyler and Grace Vessel; one sister, Alice Broze of Sarasota, FL; one brother, Paul Werner of Joliet; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his first wife, Patricia (Staley) Werner (1994); one brother, William Werner (1990).
As it was Larry's request, he has donated his body for the advancement of medical research. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet, IL. Final interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials in his name to the Joliet Area Community Hospice and/or Neurological Institute, www.ninds.nih.gov would be appreciated.
