"Jim"
Age 76. Passed away suddenly Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Kankakee to the late James W. and Irene (Boudreau) Jenkins. He was raised in Joliet and lived in Channahon the since 1995. Graduate of Joliet Catholic High School where he was a member of the band. Joined the Navy Reserves in 1955 and was released in 1963. Retired in 1990 from Illinois Bell/Ameritech as a construction manager in the Joliet area following 35 years of service. Member of the American Legion Post #1080 and the Telephone Pioneers. Jim was known as "Bum-Bum" by his grandchildren, loved his model trains, Green Bay Packers and conversing with family and friends. A Civil War and WWII history buff, he was known for his Irish wit and compassion for animals.
Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Hirsch) Jenkins of Channahon; four daughters, Cynthia Jenkins of Joliet, Deana (John) Barton of Custer Park, Patricia (Larry) Perinar Jr. of Channahon and Colleen (James) Cronin of Custer Park; ten grandchildren, Ellen and Marian Barton, Stacey, Brenna,G. Mitch, Ginger and Raquel Perinar, Tom, Elizabeth and David Cronin; several in-laws including John Vargo and Dr. Raymond Tennant, who were special friends also survive.
Preceded by his parents; sister, Mary Tennant and cousin Edward (Nancy) LaMontagne.
As it was Jim's request, Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass for Jim Jenkins will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013, 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 S. Navajo Dr., Channahon. Family will receive all friends and relatives at the church from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet. Arrangements by Fred C.
