Obituary of Joel Testin

Joel E. Testin Age 47, of Newark, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, June 26, 2013. He was born April 6, 1966 to the late Anna Mae, nee Larkin and the late Paul Testin in Joliet, and was raised on the family farm in Plainfield. Joel graduated with the Class of 1984 from Plainfield Central High School and was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local #558 and the Knights of Columbus. Beloved husband of 25 years to Susanne (nee Carlson); Loving father of Lawrence (Alexandra Kurz), Kyle (fiancee Abby McCartney), Rachel Testin, and Steven Nichols, who Joel thought of as a son, all of Newark. Dearest brother of Mike (Pam) Testin of Wenona and fond uncle of Patrick, Kelly (fiance Ryan Wink), Peter, Kevin and Michaelene Testin all of Wenona. Also survived by his sister, Mary (John) Bornemann of Plainfield; nephews, Michael, Brian (Jenna) and Tim Bornemann as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his mother in 2011 and father in 1996. Joel was an outdoorsman who loved nature, woodworking and the farm. He often would say he wanted to "go back into farming." Funeral services for Joel Testin will be held Monday July 1, 2013, 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Rt 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery.
