Obituary of Robert Race

Robert K. Race "Bob" Age 59. Passed away unexpectedly at his late residence on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Born in Joliet, he was a long time Oregon resident before relocating to Joliet in 1999, to care for his mother. A graduate of Joliet Junior College, Joliet West High School (Class of 1971), Hufford Junior High School, and Reedswood Grade School. A field representative of the U.S. Census Bureau. Robert loved and had some of his happiest times when he lived in Eugene, OR, where he worked for Chase Gardens. He also enjoyed summer family vacations in the Upper Penisula of Michigan, where he was able to capture and photograph the copper country. His greatest loves in life were spending time with his family and friends, fishing and camping. He was an avid photographer, also capturing the scenic northwest. His love of baseball was ever present in his life. Preceded in death by his parents, Carlyle and Beatrice (nee Klee) Race; brother, William Race (1969); and his faithful canine companion, "Murphy". Survived by two sisters, Robin (Jeff) Wagner-Race of Eugene, OR and Sandi (Chris) Breitbarth of Joliet; one niece, Klee Angelie Galligan of Pensacola, FL; one nephew, Derian C. Breitbarth of Joliet; one cousin, Marguerite (Richard) Soliman and family; one aunt, one uncle and many cousins also survive. Private funeral services were held. As it was Robert's wish, Cremation Rites have been accorded. His final earthly remains will rest in Oregon in the country he loved so much.
