"Dennis"
Age 75. Passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Born April 27, 1938, he was the son of Jerry and Juel Delrose and son-in-law of Leslie and Audrey Heintz.
Survived by Judy, his loving wife of 52 years; daughters, Leslie (Douglas) Hutchison and Gerrie (Patrick) Dugan; four grandchildren, Harley and McCoy Hutchison and Patrick and Audrey Dugan; three brothers, Arrie (Vicki) Delrose of Fort Myers, FL, Tim Delrose of Joliet, Tom (Gloria) Delrose of Mokena and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis was a lifelong resident of Joliet. He attended St. Mary's Grade School, Joliet Catholic High School and Xavier University. Dennis was an active businessman, sharing ownership with his brothers of several businesses: Tri County Periodical, The Joliet, Downers Grove and Homewood Flossmoor News Agencies and a chain of 21 Printer's Ink book and card stores. He later opened four Checkers Restaurants in Milwaukee, WI.
Dennis was President of the Midwest Independent Distributors Association, Board member of the University of St. Francis and the George Werden Buck Boys Club, and member of Joliet Kiwanis Club and St. Paul the Apostle Church. He was also a member of the Joliet Country Club and John's Island Country Club in Vero Beach, FL.
Dennis loved people and touched so many lives with his warm and friendly personality. He was a positive man who lived life to the fullest. He had the gift of putting a smile on everyone's face. We will miss him dearly. We are grateful to all our family and friends for their love and support.
Funeral Services for Dennis Delrose will be Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. John Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Research Program at the University of Chicago Medical Center, c/o Richard Larson, M.D., 5841 South Maryland Avenue, MC 2115, Chicago, IL 60637.
