Obituary of William Murphy

William J. Murphy, Jr. "Murph" Age 80. Suddenly Monday, August 5, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born and raised in Chicago, the son of the late William Sr. and Ruth (Clark) Murphy and residing in Elwood/Joliet since 1985. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Retired from Illinois Bell/SBC telephone in 1978. Former member of I.B.E.W. Local #165, serving as treasurer. An avid Chicago Bears, White Sox and Notre Dame fan. Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Mary (Rozynek) Murphy of Joliet; his son, William Michael (Heather) Murphy of Joliet; daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Hoffman of Elwood; three grandchildren, Chloe, Amanda and Riley; several nieces and nephews. Preceded by his sister, Ruth O'Connell. A Memorial Service for William J. Murphy, Jr. will be Friday, August 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Private inurnment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
