Norma J. Condon
(Nee Steinke)
Age 83, of Joliet, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with her loving family at her side.
Norma was born April 5, 1930 in Deer Grove, IL to Joseph and Louise (nee Sommer) Steinke, and was a 1947 graduate of Joliet Central High School. She enjoyed singing, dancing and bowling along with all the activities of raising a large and active family. She made every holiday special and entertained family and friends with a gracious and beautiful spirit. Norma will be remembered for her charitable and volunteer work for the Church of St. Jude, St. Patrick Retirement Home and Joliet Catholic Academy where she served as Co-Chair of Jubilation.
Norma was always ready for whatever life had in store for her, living life to the fullest and putting the needs of others first. She was truly an inspiration whose memory will be cherished forever.
Survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Patrick R. Condon of Joliet; her devoted children, Brian R. (Jody) Condon, Peggy A. Condon, Michael J. (Deb) Condon, Jane M. (Dick Hunckler) Condon, Caryn L. (Harry) Williams, all of Joliet, Mary Kay Green of Batavia, IL, John W. (Laurie) Condon of Palm Desert, CA and Cathy C. (Rob Houston) Loverde of Lake Zurich, IL; 19 grandchildren; Christopher (Michelle) Condon, Shannon (Mark) Yundt, Jonathan (Stephanie) Cruz, Kyle, Kaitlin and Lindsay Condon, Sean (Shenna Maison) Boyer, Hayley Boyer, Andrew, Sarah, Casey and Kevin Green, Grant and Kent Williams, Alex and Dana Condon, and Colleen, Joe and Grace Loverde; four great-granchildren, Colton Condon, Aiden and Paige Yundt and Anna Cruz; one sister-in-law, Mary Alice Steinke of Plant City, FL; her husband's siblings, Fr. William F. Condon of Mesa, AZ, Marilyn (Bill) Flavin of Lake Charles, LA and Virginia (late Bill) Hartmann of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by her parents and three brothers, Donald (Mary), Cecil and Robert Steinke.
Funeral services for Norma J. Condon will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Church of St. Jude for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with her brother-in-law, Fr. William F. Condon officiating. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials in her name to Joliet Area community Hospice, Joliet Catholic Academy, or Church of St. Jude would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
