Obituary of Louie Eliakis

Louie A. Eliakis "The Greek" Age 87. Suddenly Thursday, September 5, 2013 as the result of a single car accident. Born in McKees Rocks, PA, he was a resident of Morris since 1957. A U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Former owner and operator of the Eliakis Produce Stand where you could find him providing the freshest produce to his community for over 40 years, until his retirement in 2003. Formerly employed at Northern Petrochemical Alumax and Equistar. An active member of the Morris Lions Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Club #1024 and American Legion Post #294. Life member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church; and member of the Ebby George's Lunch Club. Preceded in death by his son, Anthony Eliakis (2012); his parents; and one brother, Steve (Poleen) Eliakis. Survived by his loving wife, Georgia Eliakis; one son, Theodore (Marcy) Eliakis; three grandchildren, Kyle, Nikole, and Kristopher; daughter-in-law, Sylvia E. Eliakis all of Morris; his sister, Amanda (late Louis) Georgantas of Joliet; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Louie A. Eliakis will be Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 West Route 6 at Deerpath Dr., Morris, IL 60450 to at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Joliet for services at 10:30 a.m. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Morris where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the Morris Color Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Morris Lions Club in his name would be appreciated. Visitation Monday from 3-8 p.m. with Trisagion Services at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
