Obituary of Eleanor Ashamy

Eleanor E. Ashamy (nee Bjornson) Age 94. Passed away September 8, 2013 at The Inn at Willow Falls. Eleanor was a dedicated homemaker, loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her culinary and baking skills and was an avid bridge player. For many years, she volunteered at Morris Hospital. Born in Green Bay, WI on November 24, 1918 and raised in Chicago, she spent most of her married life in Joliet and Morris. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Roger Ashamy; parents, Joseph and Matilda (nee Carlson) Bjornson. Survived by her daughters, Sharon (Ray) Skaggs of Joliet and Cori (Marc) Fuchs of Springfield; grandchildren, Kim (Eric Magee), Becky (Brad) Foster, Patrick and Maureen Skaggs; and great-grandchildren, Abbey and Luke Foster, Burke Magee. Her family would like to thank all those at The Inn at Willow Falls for the kindness and compassion shown to Eleanor her last four years with them. Funeral Services for Eleanor E. Ashamy will be Wednesday September 11, 2013 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 710 W. Marion St., Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation to help find a cure for this rare cancer that has touched a family member.
