John F. Bulliner
Age 89. At rest Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Herrin, IL to the late John, Sr. and Lora (nee Hayton) Bulliner, he was a resident of Joliet for the past ten years. Graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, IL. Retired from the Peoria Journal Star Newspaper in 1991. Member of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, and the Rockford and Joliet Deaf Clubs. He was an avid sportsman, who was very active in high school sports. Recipient of numerous awards, he was inducted into the Illinois School for the Deaf Hall of Fame, and the USA Deaf Sports Federation Hall of Fame. He was awarded the American Legion All American Award.
Survived by two sons, Frank Bulliner of Rockford and Terry (Jill) Bulliner of Joliet; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; his niece, Jeanne Rogers of Benton, IL.
Preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia (nee Long) Bulliner (2001).
Funeral Services for John F. Bulliner will be Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Illinois School for the Deaf. Visitation SATURDAY 10:00 a.m. until time of services at:
