Obituary of Helen Hardy

Helen L. Hardy (nee Nevin) Age 94. Passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Timbers of Shorewood. Born July 8, 1919 to Charles and Louise (nee Hansen) Nevin in Bloomington, IL, she moved to Joliet at age seven. She graduated from Joliet Township High School, Class of 1937, and married William K. Hardy on August 30, 1941. Survived by her three children, Barbara (Richard) Young of Plainfield, Robert (Maribeth) Hardy of Lexington, SC and Michael (Fran) Hardy of Sparta, NJ; nine grandchildren, Julie Voitik, Amie Donahue, James Hardy, Rose White, Daniel Hardy, Sarah Hardy, Jacqui Hardy, Michelle Hardy and Cameron Hardy; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, William (2009); her son, James (1992); her parents; and brother, Robert Nevin (1996). A member of numerous Bridge clubs, including the Elks, Hospitality and St. Raymond Bridge Club. A former member of Elks Golf League and the Thursday Nine-Hole Swingers. In 2012, she was Prom Queen at the Timbers in Shorewood. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle from the inception of the church. She was a gracious hostess, who loved life and enjoyed entertaining. Funeral Services for Helen L. Hardy will be Monday, September 30, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in her name to Ingalls Hospice, 1 Ingalls Drive, Harvey, IL 60426 or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
