Obituary of George Sarris

George S. Sarris Age 84. Peacefully, George went to sleep and woke up in the presence of the Lord Friday, September 27, 2013 at his home. Born in Chicago and a longtime Joliet area resident. A graduate of Lakeview High School in Chicago. George was a lifelong real estate developer and contractor. Owner of Sarris Development and was active in his field right up until the day he died. He also was a Deputy Sheriff with the Will County Sheriff's Police Department for many years. George was an accomplished private pilot and member of the Flying 7 Group. Preceded by his wife, Stella (nee Petikakes) Sarris (2005). Survived by one daughter, Elayne (John) Karpen of Joliet; two sons, Scott (Richard Doherty) Sarris of Douglas, MI and Chris Sarris of Joliet; three grandchildren, Alex (fiancee, Hanna Davis) Sarris, Mila and Jonelle Karpen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins locally and in Greece. Funeral Services for George S. Sarris will be Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church for services at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials to his grandchildren's education would be appreciated.
