Obituary of James Lukancic

James J. Lukancic "Luke" Age 70, a lifelong Joliet resident, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. A U.S. Army veteran. Luke attended Joliet Township High School, Joliet Junior College and Lewis College. He retired from the City of Joliet after serving many years as a police officer. Luke thoroughly enjoyed serving his community and remarked about his time here, "It truly was a wonderful life." Survived by two sons, James P. (Joy) Lukancic and John (Tracy) Lukancic; one daughter, Patricia A. Petersen; ten grandchildren, Joseph, Sydney, Daniel and Molly, McKenna, Ella, Liam, and Marie; Anna and Anthony; four sisters, Lilian Murphy, Helen (late Ray) Valerugo, Angela (Walter) Zaida and Mary Ann Lukancic; two brothers, Dr. Louis (Barbara) Lukancic and John (Anna Mae) Lukancic; and brothers-in-law, Peter (Carm) Collins, Joseph (Carol) Collins and Dr. Kent Monroe. Preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Patricia (nee Collins) Lukancic; parents, Louis P. and Paula (nee Matko) Lukancic; two sisters, Emma (late Robert) Bechler and Dr. Mildred Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Carolyn Collins; brother-in-law, Clarence Murphy; As it was Luke's request, Cremation Rites have been accorded and private family services were held at St. Joseph Cemetery.
