Obituary of Joseph Spreitzer

Joseph F. Spreitzer "Junie" Age 81. Peacefully Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, with his family by his side. Born in Rockdale, he was a lifelong Joliet area resident. A graduate of Joliet Township High School, and Rockdale Elementary School system. A U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Formerly employed by the Charles G. Stevens Steel Company as a plant supervisor, and also First Midwest Bank for many years. Former owner and operator of EJS Enterprises where he demonstrated his true love of remodeling, reconditioning and using his skill as a craftsman. A life member of Cantigny Post VFW #367, and the American Legion Post #1080. Member of KSKJ and former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300. Preceded in death by one son, Joseph J. Spreitzer (1988); his wife, Edna M. (nee Gleason) Spreitzer (2007); sisters, Mary Smolich, Elizabeth Rudman, Theresa Rudman, Margaret Bregar, Frances Panian, and Bernice Raspolich. Survived by his loving son, Dan and his loving and devoted daughter-in-law who he considered more like his daughter, Carol (nee Condon) Spreitzer both of Joliet; two grandchildren, Christopher and Sara Spreitzer; one brother, Edward (Jackie) Spreitzer of Joliet; two sisters, Ann (late Gene) Washer of Joliet and Dorothy Jean (late James) Anderson of Marseilles; numerous nieces and nephews, and his loving friend and companion, Peg Stanfel, also survive. Funeral Services for Joseph F. Spreitzer will be Monday October 7, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will take place at a later time at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Due to the compassionate care that Joseph and his family received, they would like any memorials directed to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice in his name.
